Behaviour Support Assistant – Full-Time Role
Location: Levenshulme
Contract: Full-time, starting after Easter until the end of the academic year
Pay: £419.25 - £500 per week

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join a Good Ofsted-rated secondary school in Levenshulme. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for supporting young people, particularly those who may face challenges in mainstream education. It offers valuable experience for those considering a career in education, psychology, youth work, or social care.

The Role:

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and students to support positive behaviour management and engagement in learning. You will help to create a structured and supportive environment where students can develop their social, emotional, and academic skills.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting students who may display challenging behaviour, helping them to stay focused and engaged in lessons.
  • Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff to implement behaviour support plans and interventions.
  • Providing one-to-one or small-group support to students, helping them to develop strategies for self-regulation and positive behaviour.
  • Acting as a mentor, building positive relationships to encourage confidence, resilience, and motivation.
  • Assisting in the supervision of students during lessons, break times, and around the school environment.
  • Helping to manage de-escalation strategies and maintaining a calm and structured learning environment.
  • Supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) or those who require additional emotional and behavioural guidance.
  • Working collaboratively with staff and parents/carers to ensure a consistent approach to behaviour support.

The Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with young people, particularly those who may require additional behaviour support (e.g., mentoring, youth work, SEN support, sports coaching).
  • Is patient, empathetic, and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Has strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Is confident in working with students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
  • Has a proactive and adaptable approach to supporting students with different needs.
  • Holds relevant training in behaviour management (such as Team Teach) or is willing to undertake training.
  • Has an understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies (training will be provided).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
