Job description

Behaviour Support Assistant

The Headteacher and SENCO of a reputable Primary School in Fulwood are seeking to appoint a Specialist Support Assistant to work across their KS1 department from MArxch 2025. This role will be temporary initially; however, the Head Teacher is looking to offer a permanent school contract in the new academic year following a successful period of probation.

The Role

The role is to support a number of children with behavioural and emotional difficulties which have arisen following their return to full-time education. You will be working alongside the pupils on a one-to-one or small group basis with the aim of supporting them in settling back into school and the classroom environment. You will work with the Class Teacher, school SENCo and parents to identify appropriate and effective strategies for supporting each individual child.

The School

The school is graded GOOD by Ofsted and will continue to offer all the children the best platform to succeed. The dedicated SENCo in school ensures all the children are giving the appropriate support in and out of the classroom and you are able to support accordingly. The school generally has good behaviour and the children arrive from supportive backgrounds. The school use a range of strategies to manage behaviour including positive reinforcement techniques as well as positive praise. The school receives a large proportion of funding for children with special educational needs and Pupil Premium. This means the school are able to allocate funding to support specific children and with this they are expected to evidence good progress.

The Head Teacher

The Head Teacher has a very positive reputation in the local area and has been in post for over five years. The children are positive about school life and this is a direct result of the leadership engrained throughout school from EYFS to Year 6. You will receive access to support from your line manager as well as a range of professional development opportunities. The school are always keen to upskill their staff and ensure they are up to date with new changes in the curriculum and behaviour management.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
