Behaviour Mentor Required – Primary School in Blackpool

Location: Blackpool
Position: Behaviour Mentor
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

Are you skilled in supporting children with behavioural needs? Do you have a strong understanding of behaviour management and a passion for helping young learners thrive? Teaching Personnel is looking for a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive primary school in Blackpool!

About the Role:

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a key role in supporting students who face challenges with behaviour, helping them to engage positively in school life. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is calm, patient, and motivated to work with children in need of extra guidance and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work one-on-one and with small groups of students, providing targeted support to help them manage behaviour and engage in learning.
  • Develop and implement individual behaviour plans in collaboration with the SENCO and class teachers.
  • Use de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement to manage challenging behaviour.
  • Support the development of children’s social and emotional skills, fostering a positive mindset and resilience.
  • Act as a role model and mentor, encouraging positive interactions with peers and staff.
  • Liaise with teachers, parents, and external agencies to create a cohesive support network for each child.

About You:

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with behavioural needs, is essential.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and an understanding of de-escalation strategies.
  • A background in youth work, psychology, or a similar field is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Resilient, patient, and adaptable with a positive, proactive attitude.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or a background in behaviour support, are desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
