Job Title: ALN Teaching Assistant
Salary: £83.85 per day
Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

Are you passionate about supporting students with autism in a secondary school setting?
We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic ALN Teaching Assistant to join our team and support autistic students within a secondary school environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), alongside a commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive environment that helps students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to secondary school students with autism on a one-to-one or small group basis.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and ALNCO to implement personalized learning plans and assist with the adaptation of resources.
  • Assist with classroom management, ensuring students engage in lessons and are supported throughout their learning journey.
  • Help students develop social, communication, and behavioural skills, using proven strategies and interventions.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment where every student feels valued and empowered.
  • Support students in their emotional and personal development, ensuring their well-being is prioritized.
  • Collaborate with parents, carers, and external professionals to monitor progress and share feedback on students' development.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience of working with children or young people, ideally those with autism or additional learning needs.
  • A solid understanding of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and experience implementing strategies to support students with different needs.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, resilience, and a positive, proactive attitude to challenges.
  • The ability to adapt and be flexible to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
