Contract Type: Flexible (Monday to Friday, term-time)

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in the Wimborne area, providing dedicated support to a student with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This is a flexible, term-time position, with the opportunity to work Monday to Friday. The role is likely to extend into the new year, offering stability and a rewarding experience for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support to a student with SEN, ensuring their individual needs are met in the classroom.
  • Help the student engage with the curriculum and participate in class activities.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to deliver personalised learning strategies.
  • Track and monitor progress, providing feedback and adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Promote positive behaviour, independence, and social development.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the student at all times, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • A patient, understanding, and flexible approach to working with children.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative in a classroom setting.
  • Knowledge of SEN strategies, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Availability to work Monday to Friday, with flexible hours based on your availability.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in a similar 1:1 Teaching Assistant role or supporting students with SEN.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification, SEN training).
  • First Aid certification (or willingness to complete training).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
