Job description

Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs? Do you have experience working with pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Global Delay, and Behavioural Challenges? We are currently seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant mainstream primary school in Bridport. This is a fantastic opportunity to work full-time within a supportive and rewarding environment.

Position: 1:1 Teaching Assistant
Location: Bridport
Hours: Full-Time (Mon-Fri)
Pay: Weekly pay (through agency)
Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a pupil within Key Stage 1 and/or 2 with special educational needs (SEN), including ASC, ADHD, Global Delay, and Behavioural Challenges.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning plans and ensuring the pupil is included in classroom activities.
  • Offer emotional and behavioural support to help manage and develop positive behaviours.
  • Support the pupil’s social and emotional development, helping them to build confidence and independence.
  • Work closely with the SENCO and other staff members to monitor progress and implement appropriate interventions.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience working with pupils with a range of SEN (ASC, ADHD, Global Delay, and Behaviour Challenges) within a primary school setting.
  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • A genuine passion for helping children overcome challenges and reach their full potential.
  • Ability to adapt to the individual needs of the child and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive and empathetic approach to supporting children in both academic and social settings.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
