About Us:

As our school community grows, we are seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child who has just joined our reception class and has suspected ADHD.

The Role:

We are looking for an empathetic and patient 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support for a child in our reception class with suspected ADHD. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and the school’s SENCO to create an engaging and supportive learning environment that meets the child’s individual needs. This role is essential in helping the child settle into school, develop positive behaviors, and make progress in their learning journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to the child throughout the school day, including during classroom activities, playtime, and transitions between activities.
  • Implement strategies to support the child’s focus, engagement, and positive behavior in line with their Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Assist with the development of social skills and emotional regulation.
  • Adapt learning activities to ensure they are accessible and engaging for the child.
  • Monitor and record the child’s progress, providing regular feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher to create a calm and structured classroom environment.
  • Liaise with parents/carers and other professionals to ensure the child’s needs are being met consistently.

About You:

  • Experience working with young children, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Understanding of ADHD and experience supporting children with similar needs.
  • A caring and patient approach, with the ability to build a positive rapport with young children.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and adapt to the child’s changing needs.
  • A commitment to promoting the child’s independence and self-confidence.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) are desirable but not essential.
