TP 30 Years - Patrick
Patrick highlights a decade of his work as Teaching Personnel celebrates a milestone of 10 years.
He's built relationships with schools and his own management style to successfully run a branch to support educators.
How long have you been with Teaching Personnel and where are you based?
I will have been at Teaching Personnel 10 years this June and I'm based in Manchester.
What first brought you to the company?
I moved back home from living in Leeds and my friend worked at the company and told me there was a role being advertised so went for it and here I am.
Tell us about your role. How has it evolved over time, and what do you love most about it?
I started at a recruitment consultant supporting primary schools in Oldham. I then moved over to another branch supporting primary schools in Bolton and Bury. After 2 years a management opportunity came up and I was successful. I have then managed 2 different primary branches in Manchester.
What has been a highlight of working here?
I think building relationships with schools and staff that last years. Earning their trust to help support their schools for so long is a good feeling. Also the people I’ve worked with in branch and office through the years, it’s a hard job with long hours so you need to get on with the people you spend your day with and I’ve been lucky to have done that all my time here,
What has surprised you most in your time here?
I honestly didn’t expect to be here as long. My plan was to do a couple of years and then move on but it’s a role I enjoy so didn’t need to move.
How has the company invested in your development? How use these skills today?
Regular training and support in my early years help me develop into a good recruitment consultant. I then picked up from my managers what works well in management (and also not well…) to build my own management style to help run a successful branch.
What would you tell someone considering joining or working with Teaching Personnel?
Do it. It's given me the best years of my working life so far.
As Teaching Personnel celebrates 30 years, what are you most excited to see in the company’s future? Continued success and growth.
