TP 30 Years - Hannah
As Teaching Personnel celebrates 30 years, we hear from Senior Branch Manager, Hannah James, who reflects on her time with us these past 11 years.
The impact we have on our schools and educators watching her team grow and learn have been highlights throughout her time at Teaching Personnel.
How long have you been with Teaching Personnel and where are you based? What first brought you to the company?
I have been at Teaching Personnel 11 years in April. I work in the Thames Valley Office as a Senior Branch Manager of the Thames Valley Secondary Team!. Teaching Personnel approached me having found my CV on Indeed, I was hired as a Recruitment Consultant, and I loved the career progression they offered!
Tell us about your role. How has it evolved over time, and what do you love most about it?
I became a Branch Manager around 1.5 years after joining Teaching Personnel and have had the opportunity to manage several different Teams throughout my career as well as covering all the sectors! My role has evolved and changed throughout the years; it turned into something much broader but ultimately it’s still all about delivering a high level of service to our clients and educators and driving my team to thrive. What I love most is the impact we have on our schools and educators but right alongside that I love watching my team grow, learn, and move up the career ladder!
What has been a highlight of working here? What has surprised you most in your time here?
One of the highlights for me since becoming a Branch Manager is seeing the people I have worked with grow within their own careers. Supporting consultants to hit their goals, build confidence and develop professionally is something I take a lot of pride in. What surprised me since joining Teaching Personnel is the continuous opportunities for career development and training. Despite being here 11 years there is still plenty of opportunities here for me! I’ve also been surprised by how collaborative the environment is, although our roles are very much target driven there’s still a strong team culture and a real willingness to support each other!
How has the company invested in your development? How do you use those skills today?
The company has invested in my development from the moment I joined, from structured training, leadership programmes, and ongoing support from senior leaders. I’ve developed skills in people management, coaching, and strategic planning. I use these skills every day, whether it’s mentoring a consultant, analysing data to help make decisions, or working with consultants to create tailored recruitment solutions. The training has all impacted how I operate and manage.
What would you tell someone considering joining or working with Teaching Personnel?
I would say it’s a great place to build a career, be part of a team and work in a fast-paced environment. You’ll be given clear progression opportunities, strong support and be recognised for your efforts and achievements!
As Teaching Personnel celebrates 30 years, what are you most excited to see in the company’s future?
I am really excited to continue to see how the company grows and develops, particularly around technology and new partnerships with schools and MATs. With Teaching Personnel's already strong foundation and reputation I am looking forward to seeing us reach more schools, support more educators, and continue to hold high quality across all sectors.
