Youth Worker Position Available in Stockport

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and passionate Youth Worker to join an Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school in Stockport. This full-time position starts ASAP and continues until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance. The pay for this role ranges from £419.25 to £500 per week.

Role Overview:

As a Youth Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting the personal, social, and academic development of students. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Student Support: Providing individual and group support to students, addressing their personal, social, and emotional needs.
  • Mentoring: Acting as a mentor and positive role model, offering guidance and support to help students navigate challenges and make positive choices.
  • Behaviour Management: Implementing and supporting behaviour management strategies, helping to maintain a safe and conducive learning environment.
  • Conflict Resolution: Assisting in the resolution of conflicts and disputes among students, promoting a culture of respect and understanding.
  • Engagement Activities: Planning and facilitating extracurricular activities and programs that engage students and promote their development.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to provide comprehensive support to students.
  • Wellbeing Initiatives: Promoting and supporting mental health and wellbeing initiatives within the school.
  • Attendance Monitoring: Supporting initiatives to improve student attendance and punctuality.
  • Crisis Intervention: Providing immediate support and intervention in crisis situations, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students.

Requirements:

  • A background in youth work, social work, education, or a related field.
  • A passion for working with young people and a commitment to their development and wellbeing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Experience in mentoring, counselling, or providing pastoral support.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and conflict resolution techniques.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work, with the ability to adapt to different situations and needs.
  • A commitment to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of students.
  • Previous experience working with young people in an educational setting is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
