Youth Worker – Specialist SEMH Setting 
Full-Time | Temp to Perm | £12.90 per hour

Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome challenges? We are looking for an empathetic and dedicated Youth Worker to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) setting in Darwen. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students and support their journey in overcoming barriers to learning.

Role Overview:
As a Youth Worker in this specialist setting, you will play a key role in supporting students with SEMH needs, helping them to engage with their education and build positive relationships. You will work closely with staff to provide tailored support, helping pupils to remove obstacles to their learning and create a positive, nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and group support to pupils with SEMH needs
  • Support students in removing barriers to learning, both academically and socially
  • Promote positive behaviour and help students develop self-regulation skills
  • Work alongside teachers and other professionals to create individualised support plans
  • Encourage students to engage in activities that promote personal and academic development

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience in youth work or supporting young people with SEMH or additional needs
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with the ability to build trust and rapport with students
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • A proactive and resilient attitude in challenging situations
  • A desire to make a positive impact on students’ lives

Details:

  • Pay: £12.90 per hour
  • Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Location: Darwen
  • Contract: Temporary with the potential for a permanent role
  • Start Date: 24th February

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
