Welsh-Speaking Teaching Assistant

Welsh Medium Primary School – Hengoed
Full-Time: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm
Pay Rate: £12.90 per hour
Start Date: ASAP

Are you passionate about supporting children in their education? Are you fluent in Welsh and eager to make a difference in a dynamic Welsh-medium school? Teaching Personnel is thrilled to be working with a welcoming and inclusive Welsh Medium Primary School in Hengoed, and we’re looking for a dedicated Welsh-speaking Teaching Assistant to join their team.

This is a full-time position with an ideal start date of January 2025, offering a rewarding opportunity to work closely with pupils and staff in a supportive environment.


What you’ll do

  • Provide tailored support to a pupil with additional learning needs, helping them to thrive both academically and socially.
  • Foster an inclusive and nurturing atmosphere for all learners.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to deliver strategies that support pupil progress.
  • Keep detailed records of progress and contribute to regular assessments and reports.
  • Build strong relationships with parents/guardians, providing regular updates and addressing any queries.
  • Liaise with professionals, including educational psychologists and speech therapists, to ensure the best support for pupils.

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is a fluent Welsh speaker, with excellent written and spoken skills in both Welsh and English.
  • Has experience supporting children with additional learning needs (ALN), particularly on a 1:1 basis.
  • Understands diverse learning challenges and can implement effective strategies for student growth.
  • Is skilled in building positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Displays patience, empathy, and resilience, thriving in a role that requires compassion and adaptability.
  • Excels in organisation, time management, and maintaining focus under pressure.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
