Job description

Teaching Personnel is looking for a driven and passionate Teaching Assistant in a school within North Bristol. This school is an esteemed institution committed to excellence. As part of a Multi Academy Trust, they’re dedicated to fostering mutual growth with a child-centred approach emphasizing emotionally intelligent relationships between staff, parents, students, and governors.

In this Teaching Assistant position, you will be supporting with diverse special educational needs such as:

  • Speech and language difficulties
  • Down Syndrome
  • Autism

Allowing these students to access learning alongside teachers both inside and outside of the classroom. If you have experience with any of the above in work and / or personal life, we would love to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support classroom teachers in delivering engaging lessons and activities.
  • Assist in preparing teaching materials and resources.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping with their learning and development.
  • Support students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) where appropriate.
  • Help manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment.
  • Assist in supervising students during break times, lunch, and extracurricular activities.
  • Help with administrative tasks and record-keeping as directed by the teaching staff.

The successful educator will have:

  • No formal teaching qualifications required, but a keen interest in education and child development.
  • Previous experience working with children or in a school setting is desirable, but not essential.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards helping children learn.
  • Ability to follow instructions and use initiative when needed.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
