Trainee Teaching Assistant

Location: Newport

Hours: 8.30am-3.30pm

Rate: £77 per day

Start date:  ASAP

Teaching personnel are currently working with a secondary school in Newport to find a Trainee Teaching Assistant. This co-educational school caters to the needs of 11-18-year-olds with students of varying abilities. Some pupils may have Additional Learning Needs, including ADHD and Dyslexia. Pupils may also have more complex needs such as Autism and physical disabilities.  

They are seeking an efficient, enthusiastic, and hardworking individual to join their team as a teaching assistant. You may be responsible for working with students on a one-on-one basis or as part of small groups.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a well-established school in Newport.

The school and Teaching Personnel invest in their staff to provide ongoing support and additional training.

The suitable candidate may not have previously worked within education but any personal experience with additional learning needs will be considered.

Role Overview

  • Your primary duty will be to provide support to the class teacher.
  • Assist students within the classroom setting.
  • Prepare learning materials and assist the teacher when required.
  • Foster a friendly and welcoming environment to promote student growth.
  • Reliability is a key requirement for this role.
  • Able to build rapport and create a comfortable environment for students.

The Ideal Candidate Should Possess:

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Flexibility and reliability are essential.
  • Friendly and approachable demeanour.
  • A passion for working in education and helping students excel.

Requirements:

  • Must have an Enhanced DBS clearance, which should be on the update service (or be willing to apply).
  • Must be registered with the EWC (or be willing to apply).
  • Must be able to provide two recent references.
  • Must have the legal right to work in the UK.
  • Must have up-to-date safeguarding training or be willing to undergo it. (Free training provided by Teaching Personnel)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
