Job description

Trainee Teaching Assistant
Primary School located in Anfield
Start Date: January 2025

A primary school in Anfield is seeking to appoint a Trainee Teaching Assistant for one of their KS1 classrooms. Over the past two years, the school has successfully appointed three teaching assistants who are currently studying or have recently completed a teaching assistant qualification. Due to this success, the Head Teacher has contacted Teaching Personnel to address their recruitment needs.

What will the trainee be doing as part of their role?
As a Trainee Teaching Assistant in KS1, you’ll support teachers in preparing for lessons and help create a safe and enjoyable learning environment for all pupils during a crucial stage in their primary education journey. During lessons, you’ll collaborate with the class teacher to assist pupils with classroom activities, help manage behaviour, and promote independence and learning. Excellent communication skills and enthusiasm will be essential in supporting all pupils to progress, achieve, and overcome any challenges. You will support all areas of the curriculum, including English, maths, and science, within the classroom.

Summary of the Role & Expectations:

  • Support pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning.
  • Encourage pupils to act independently where appropriate.
  • Prepare the classroom for lessons and clear away afterwards.
  • Assist the teacher in managing pupil behaviour, reporting any difficulties.
  • Support pupils in understanding lesson instructions.
  • Assist pupils with the school curriculum, such as English, maths, etc., as directed by the teacher.
  • Supervise pupils during lunchtimes.
  • Comply with all necessary policies and procedures relating to child protection, equality and diversity, health, safety and security, confidentiality, and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.

The Role:

  • Hours: 8:30 – 15:30, Monday – Friday
  • Includes a 30-minute welfare duty
  • Open to individuals currently studying a TA/CACHE/Childcare qualification
  • Pay range: £12.90 – £13.50 per hour

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
