Teaching Assistants – PMLD Support
Leeds North & Nearby Areas | Flexible Working | Competitive Pay

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking to support children with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)? We are seeking dedicated professionals to work in specialist provisions across North Leeds, helping children with complex needs reach their full potential.

About the Role:
This position is ideal for individuals with prior experience in SEN settings, particularly those supporting pupils with severe learning difficulties, sensory impairments, and physical disabilities. You will be assisting in creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment while ensuring students receive tailored support.

We offer flexible working opportunities, allowing you to work in various schools or take on a long-term position in one setting. A minimum commitment of three days per week is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing one-on-one and group support for children with PMLD.

  • Assisting with personal care, mobility, and daily routines.

  • Supporting teaching staff and therapists in delivering personalised learning plans.

  • Encouraging social interaction and communication through adapted resources.

  • Using specialist equipment to enhance accessibility and independence.

What We Look For:

  • Experience working with children with PMLD or complex needs.

  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting children.

  • Strong teamwork and adaptability.

  • A willingness to assist with personal care needs where necessary.

Preferred Training (Not Essential):

  • Moving and Handling training.

  • PEG feeding or medical training.

  • Makaton or alternative communication methods.

  • Team Teach or behaviour management training.

Locations Covered:

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
