Specialist Teaching Assistants – PMLD Support
Leeds East & Surrounding Areas | Flexible Schedule | Competitive Pay

Do you have experience supporting children with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)? We are seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to provide essential support in specialist provisions across East Leeds.

Role Overview:
This is an opportunity for experienced professionals to work closely with children who require additional care and support in their learning. Pupils may have sensory impairments, mobility difficulties, and complex learning needs, and your role will be crucial in helping them access education in a meaningful way.

We provide flexible working arrangements, allowing you to choose between working in multiple settings or committing to a long-term role in a single provision. A minimum availability of three days per week is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering personalised support to children with PMLD.

  • Assisting with mobility, personal care, and medical needs.

  • Using sensory-based learning techniques to enhance engagement.

  • Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and support staff to create effective learning plans.

  • Implementing behaviour management and communication strategies.

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience working with children with PMLD or complex SEN needs.

  • A patient, caring, and adaptable approach.

  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow care plans.

  • Willingness to assist with personal care and mobility support.

Desirable Training (Not Essential):

  • Moving and Handling training.

  • Makaton or alternative communication methods.

  • PEG feeding or medical care experience.

  • Team Teach or behaviour support training.

Areas Covered:

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
