Job Vacancy: SEN Teaching Assistant – Southampton

Location: Southampton, Hampshire
Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Start Date: ASAP or September 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time (Term-Time Only)
Salary: £13.75 P/H

Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs? We are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school in Southampton.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to make a real impact in a child’s educational journey. You will be working closely with pupils with a variety of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, and social/emotional challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEN

  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO

  • Assist with classroom management and differentiated learning

  • Offer emotional and academic support to pupils

  • Help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children with special needs (in school or similar settings)

  • A patient, nurturing, and resilient attitude

  • Excellent communication and team-working skills

  • A commitment to inclusive education

  • Relevant qualifications (desirable but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
