Job Overview:

The Teaching Assistant will support classroom teachers in the delivery of the curriculum and provide additional assistance to students in their learning. This role is vital in ensuring that students receive the individual attention they need to succeed, both academically and socially.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the teacher in planning and preparing lessons and materials.
  • Support students during lessons, ensuring they understand tasks and are engaged in learning.
  • Work with individual or small groups of students to reinforce learning and provide additional help as needed.
  • Help maintain a positive and focused learning environment by supporting the management of student behaviour.
  • Ensure that classroom rules and routines are followed and that students are safe and respectful.
  • Monitor and record students' performance, bringing any concerns to the teacher's attention.
  • Provide additional support for students with special educational needs (SEN) or those who may require extra help with their learning.
  • Assist students in developing their social and emotional skills, fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom culture.
  • Help with the preparation and organization of teaching materials and resources.
  • Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents as required.
  • Provide feedback to the class teacher about students' progress, behaviour, and any issues that arise.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience of working with children or in a school environment is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work well with children and support diverse learning needs.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
  • Experience working as a teaching assistant or in a similar child-focused role is desirable but not essential.
  • Enthusiastic about supporting students and helping them achieve their potential.
  • Approachable, with a friendly and empathetic demeanour.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
