Job Advertisement: Experienced SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Rawtenstall, Lancashire
Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (Maternity Cover)
Start Date: Tuesday 3rd September 2024
Contract: Temporary (Maternity Cover)

About Us: We are a dynamic and inclusive secondary school in Rawtenstall dedicated to providing an exceptional educational experience for all our students. Our commitment to fostering an environment where every student can thrive is at the heart of everything we do. We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team and cover a maternity leave.

Role and Responsibilities: As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to ensure they can access the curriculum effectively.
  • Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies tailored to each student’s unique needs.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of tailored learning activities.
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, SEN coordinators, and other staff to monitor and assess students' progress.
  • Use assistive technologies and adaptive teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles.
  • Support the social and emotional development of students, promoting a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers to keep them informed of their child’s progress and any concerns.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of [Specify Required Qualifications], with specialised training in SEN.
  • Proven experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant in a Secondary school setting.
  • Strong understanding of SEN best practices and the ability to implement effective support strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Commitment to promoting an inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
