Teaching Assistants required – Middlesbrough

Teaching Personnel are currently working with a number of schools within the Middlesbrough area to recruit for teaching assistants to work within mainstream secondary schools. You will be required to help the students development to meet their full potential at school in order to become more independent socially and emotionally.
The curriculum at the secondary schools has a much more active and kinaesthetic approach to learning, offering lots of physical, vocational and sensory activities which suit the children's learning styles more than the usual textbook approach. The needs of the children can vary, such as severe learning disabilities, profound and moderate learning disabilities and autism spectrum condition. The children may also need mobility or fine motor assistance, personal care and therapy depending on their conditions (speech and language, sensory, physio etc).
The general role will mainly include acting as a support to the teacher within the classroom, monitoring and controlling student behaviour and helping them to be involved and engaged in their classroom activities. You may also be required to take part in break and lunchtime monitoring where necessary.
The work is mainly on a supply basis and can include day-to-day, week-by-week, or sick/maternity cover but can also offer long term cover and full time opportunities. If you are looking to work reduced hours or on a part time basis, Teaching Assistant hours are around 6 hours per day, between 8.30am - 3.30pm (school hours).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
