Our client secondary school situated in the inner-city area of central Manchester is looking to recruit a teaching assistant to start with them during the first half term of the new academic year. The successful teaching assistant will be required from appointment in September for the remainder of the whole academic year. This appointment will initially be via Teaching Personnel on a supply basis with the opportunity to progress onto a school-based contract from January onwards.

The role of the teaching assistant at this mixed secondary school is to fulfil a full 360 degree role including supporting students in lessons, assisting any students who are identified as having SEN and supporting those who have English as an additional language. The successfully appointed teaching assistant will therefore have to be adaptable, confident and motivated to succeed taking on the wide variety of positions. This is a centrally located secondary school where behaviour can be challenging – there is lots of support in place for students and staff are highly supportive of each other, often working together to support each other and collaborate.

This role will suit an individual with prior experience of supporting within a secondary school environment as a teaching assistant, behaviour mentor, learner mentor or cover supervisor or someone who is looking into a teaching position in the future.

Key aspects of this teaching assistant role:

  • Full time teaching assistant required starting in September as required
  • Pay will range between £1685 - £1725 per month
  • 1 year fixed term contract for the successful teaching assistant progressing onto and earning a school based contract from January

The school is located in the central Manchester area close to the central train stations. It is therefore easy for any teaching assistants to get to this school utilising the public transport network. The school also has an on site secure car park for use by all staff. Being a relatively new school within this trust of schools; it boasts excellent facilities and is housed in a large, new building with the latest technology.

The school are looking ahead to the new academic year and are keen to recruit a confident, motivated teaching assistant that is looking to work in a supportive secondary school. This role is a great opportunity for a graduate, former teaching assistant or youth worker looking for more responsibility and experience in supporting students. Any cover supervisors or graduates with any relevant or related work experience are encouraged to apply for immediate consideration.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
