Year 1 Teaching Assistant – Fleetwood Primary School

Location: Fleetwood
Position: Year 1 Teaching Assistant
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

Are you passionate about supporting young children in their education? Do you have experience working in Key Stage 1 and a desire to help children reach their full potential? Teaching Personnel is looking for a motivated individual to join a primary school in Fleetwood!

We are currently recruiting for a Year 1 Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a vibrant and friendly primary school. This full-time role offers an immediate start and is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to make a positive impact on young learners' development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the class teacher in Year 1, helping to plan and deliver engaging learning activities.
  • Work one-to-one with pupils or in small groups to support literacy, numeracy, and phonics development.
  • Assist with classroom management and create a positive, stimulating learning environment.
  • Help monitor and record children’s progress, offering feedback to the class teacher.
  • Encourage children’s social and emotional development through positive interactions.
  • Support the individual needs of pupils, including those with additional learning needs or requiring extra support.

About You:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a Key Stage 1 setting is highly desirable.
  • A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is preferred but not essential.
  • A patient, caring, and enthusiastic approach to working with young children.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with pupils and staff.
  • A strong understanding of the Year 1 curriculum, including phonics, is advantageous.
  • Flexibility and the ability to work as part of a team are key.
