Supply Teacher
Job description
Teaching Personnel work closely with a co-educational secondary school located in Chichester, West Sussex. With over 1500 boys and girls aged between 11 and 18, the school provides a nurturing environment where students can flourish and build confidence. The school’s motto, “Always our best because everyone matters,” reflects its commitment to excellence and inclusivity. In December 2022, Ofsted rated the school as ‘Outstanding’ in all areas, highlighting strengths in attainment, destinations, progress, and attendance, with inspectors also commenting that behaviour within the school is exemplary. The school has a long history of achieving high academic standards, pupils are engaged, and all cover staff are made to feel like part of the team and are warmly welcomed by the senior leadership team.
Teaching Personnel are working with the school to find suitable educators to assist with cover during periods of staff absence such as illness, pre-planned courses and trips for example. This role would be suitable for early careers teachers who have recently qualified, fully qualified teachers who are looking for extra work alongside a permanent role, as well as teachers who may be looking to reduce their workload or working days.
What are the key responsibilities of a substitute teacher?
Classroom management: Follow lesson plans left by the regular teacher, whilst maintaining order and discipline in the classroom. Manage student behaviour and address any disruptions, logging reports appropriately as needed.
Instructional support: Deliver lessons and facilitate learning, following preset lesson plans. Assist students with assignments and questions, providing individual or small group instruction when required.
Adaptability and collaboration: Be flexible and adjust to different ability levels and subjects, familiarise yourself with classroom routines and procedures.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
