Job description

Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a dynamic and motivated Sports Coach Teaching Assistant to support students at a mainstream secondary school in South Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for sports and education to make a real impact in the development of students' physical education, teamwork, and leadership skills.

As a Sports Coach Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to support the delivery of PE lessons and help students achieve their personal and academic best. You will also assist with extracurricular sports activities, encouraging students to engage in sports outside of the classroom. This role is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic, committed to promoting physical activity, and eager to inspire young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the PE department in delivering high-quality lessons to students across various year groups.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students during lessons, ensuring they are engaged and making progress.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and create a positive and motivating learning environment.
  • Lead and support extra-curricular sports activities, clubs, and competitions.
  • Encourage students to develop teamwork, discipline, and confidence through sport.
  • Support the implementation of individual learning plans for students with additional needs.
  • Help with the preparation and maintenance of sports equipment and facilities.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers on performance and behaviour.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A passion for sport and physical education, with the ability to inspire and engage students.
  • Experience coaching sports or working in a similar role is preferred, but not essential.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • A proactive, enthusiastic approach with the ability to adapt to different situations.
  • Previous experience working in a school or educational setting is beneficial, but not required.
  • A relevant qualification in sport (e.g., sports coaching, PE, or similar) is desirable, but not essential.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
