We are seeking a driven and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join an educational setting in Wimborne, working with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

About the college:

This school focuses on each student’s skills and encourage their students to thrive and work towards their independence. They provide a variety of support such as integrated therapy to create an environment where a children can explore their creativity and advance in an educational setting.
This school caters to students who have a wide range of learning difficulties (ASC – Autism Spectrum Conditions) from ages 16 to 19 through their post-16 study programmes from 8.30am to 3.30pm (30-minutes unpaid lunch break – free lunch provided)
Your Role:
- Provide personlised support for each student depending on their learning styles and special needs to achieve their educational milestones.
- Taking responsibility for Safeguarding by prioritising children's physical, social and emotional welfare through utilising a variety of interpersonal techniques.
- Ensure students are provided with a safe environment to pursue their educational needs.
- Accurately recording all incidents, accidents and health and safety documentation.
- Work alongside and support teachers to ensure inclusivity and access, keep track of progress and promote self-esteem.
- Develop a variety of methods to engage with individual students, under the direction of the teacher.
- You may be required to work closely with other professionals like speech and language therapists.
What We’re Looking For:
- Due to the nature of this role, applicants must have experience supporting children/adults with special needs.
- Hold a minimum of 5 GCSE.
- Able to understand and help students with various learning styles.
- Enjoy working with students.
- The ability to create the best conditions for students with additional needs.
- Flexible and open to adapting to each student’s needs.
- Excellent verbal communication and listening skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed during stressful situations and ensuring students feel supported.
- This role may require a full valid driving licence due to the nature/location of the work.
Requirements:
- Enhanced DBS with barred list checks as you will be working with children
- Applicant must be over the age of 21

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
