SEN Teaching Assistant – Permanent Position

Location: Witney, Oxfordshire

We are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with severe learning difficulties at a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Witney. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about working with children with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and supporting them in their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students with severe and profound learning difficulties, providing tailored support to meet their individual needs.

  • Assisting with the delivery of a bespoke curriculum designed to meet the learning requirements of each student.

  • Promoting independent learning, encouraging communication, and assisting students with personal care when necessary.

  • Working closely with class teachers to monitor student progress and adapt strategies to support individual learning.

  • Creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment where every child can thrive.

  • Assisting with students’ mobility, personal care, and medical needs where appropriate.

  • Engaging in regular training and development opportunities to support best practice in SEN education.

Person Specification:

  • Experience working with children or young people with PMLD, physical disabilities, or other SEN is desirable.

  • A patient, caring, and flexible approach to working with children with complex needs.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • A willingness to undergo further training in specific areas such as communication aids, manual handling, and safeguarding.

  • A genuine passion for supporting children with severe and complex learning needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
