SEN Teaching Assistant – Permanent Position

Location: Oxford, Oxfordshire

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and dynamic team within a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school located in Oxford. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with SEMH needs and helping them to achieve their potential in a safe and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, both in and out of the classroom.

  • Assisting with the implementation of individual learning plans, tailored to meet the specific needs of each student.

  • Providing one-on-one and small group support to ensure students are fully engaged with their learning.

  • Encouraging and promoting positive behaviour, assisting with de-escalation strategies when required.

  • Helping to create a safe and supportive learning environment.

  • Supporting students with personal care and mobility needs, where appropriate.

  • Working closely with teaching staff and other professionals to monitor student progress and development.

Person Specification:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEMH, ASD, or other SEN is desirable.

  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • A commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all students.

  • Experience with behaviour management strategies is an advantage.

  • A passion for helping children with SEN reach their full potential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
