Job description

 SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary School in Poole

A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Poole is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistant to join their team for February 2025. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting students with additional learning needs and contributing to their academic and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with special educational needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing tailored learning strategies to meet individual students' needs.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Help with the delivery of specific interventions and support programmes.
  • Monitor and track student progress, offering guidance and encouragement to ensure each student reaches their full potential.
  • Work closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other staff to ensure coordinated support for students.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people with special educational needs, ideally in an educational setting.
  • A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to working with students.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • An understanding of various learning difficulties and strategies to support students effectively.
  • A willingness to undergo further training and development as required.

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications in special educational needs or education (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification).
  • Knowledge of specific interventions or support strategies for students with autism, dyslexia, or other learning needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
