Job Advertisement: Teaching Assistant (EYFS 1:1 Support)
Location: Mainstream Primary School, Nelson, East Lancashire
Hours: Full-Time (8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday)
Start Date: As soon as possible
Are you passionate about supporting young learners and making a difference in their early education? We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a child in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) who is currently on the pathway to an autism diagnosis. This is a rewarding opportunity to help nurture and develop a child’s potential in a supportive school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support tailored to the child’s individual needs.
- Assist in implementing strategies to promote learning, communication, and social development.
- Collaborate with teachers and external professionals to deliver an individualized support plan.
- Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment to enhance the child’s emotional well-being.
- Support the child’s transition through daily routines and activities within the EYFS framework.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with children in EYFS, preferably with additional needs.
- A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting children with autism or similar needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to the child’s evolving needs.
- A proactive and enthusiastic attitude to supporting learning and development.
Qualifications (Desirable):
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
- Experience with autism support or knowledge of autism spectrum conditions.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
