Behaviour Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant – SEMH Specialist School
Milton Keynes | ASAP Start | £90-£100/day (Experience-Dependent)
Teaching Personnel is urgently seeking a resilient, empathetic Behaviour Specialist SEN TA to join an outstanding SEMH specialist school in Milton Keynes. This is a full-time, long-term role supporting children with Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviours.
The Role in Detail:
Behaviour & Emotional Support

Work 1:1 and in small groups with students aged 5-16 with SEMH needs, trauma, ADHD, ASD, and attachment difficulties

Implement de-escalation strategies and positive behaviour plans

Support emotional regulation using therapeutic approaches (e.g., Zones of Regulation, PACE model)

Assist in crisis intervention when required (training provided)
Classroom & Academic Support

Adapt learning materials to meet individual EHCP targets

Encourage engagement in lessons using motivational strategies

Support core subjects (English, Maths) with a focus on functional skills

Assist with social skills development and life skills training
Team Collaboration

Work closely with teachers, therapists, and SENCO to deliver tailored support

Provide feedback on student progress and behaviour patterns

Attend multi-agency meetings (where required)
We Need Someone With:
✅ Experience in SEMH settings, PRUs, or specialist schools (minimum 6 months preferred)
✅ Training/certification in Team Teach, MAPA, or restraint training (desirable but not essential)
✅ Understanding of trauma-informed practice and attachment-aware approaches
✅ Resilience, patience, and a proactive attitude – no two days are the same!
✅ A drive to make a real difference in vulnerable children’s lives

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
