SEN Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support (Reception) – Blackley, M9

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1)
Location: Primary School, Blackley, M9
Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only
Dates: 3rd March 2025 – July 2025

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a child in Reception who has complex needs and is non-verbal. This is a full-time position within a supportive and inclusive primary school in Blackley (M9).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalised 1:1 support to help the child access learning and daily routines.
  • Use alternative communication methods (such as PECS, Makaton, or AAC) to support the child’s development.
  • Assist with personal care as required.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored support strategies.
  • Create a nurturing and structured environment to promote progress and engagement.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

✅ Have experience working with children with complex needs and non-verbal communication.
✅ Be patient, compassionate, and committed to supporting SEN pupils.
✅ Have knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or other communication aids (or be willing to learn).
✅ Be proactive and able to work collaboratively with staff and parents.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
