Job description

An SEN school in Manchester is looking for a full-time teaching assistant to work within one of their structured classes with students years 7-9. The school works with young people who have ASC and autism traits, and work with small classes of students to help progress in a way that suits each individual. The class that you will work with are supported learners and have some additional needs, but these are not as profound as other classes within the school.

For this role you should:

  • Have previous experience working with young people with Autism or other similar additional needs
  • Have a Team Teach qualification or experience with difficult behaviour
  • Be ok with occasionally assisting with personal care of students
  • Have previous experience working within a school, preferably an SEN school
  • Be available full time

The role will involve working with students in small groups to help them with their classwork and behaviour. You will move around the school with the class and will work alongside the teacher and the other members of staff to create a positive learning environment. The children within this class have a broad curriculum that allows them to work together to make sure that lessons are enjoyable and interactive.

The role will be temp to perm for the right candidate.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
