Job Description:

Teaching Personnel are excited to partner with a thriving secondary school in South Manchester to recruit a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in students' lives and want to help create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who require additional support to access the curriculum, engage in learning, and develop their social and emotional skills. You will collaborate with teaching staff to implement tailored interventions and support individual learning needs, ensuring that all students are able to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support for students with a range of SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and learning difficulties.
  • Assist in delivering differentiated lessons and resources to suit the diverse needs of students.
  • Help create a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers and the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
  • Support students in developing their social and emotional skills.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, helping to build their confidence and self-esteem.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children or young people, preferably in a school or educational setting.
  • A strong understanding of Special Educational Needs and the ability to adapt support accordingly.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to engage with students in a positive and supportive manner.
  • A passion for education and helping students reach their full potential.
  • A proactive, flexible approach to supporting teaching and learning.

Desirable:

  • A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience working with specific SEN needs (e.g., ASD, ADHD, etc.).
  • Team Teach or other relevant training (training can be provided).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
