SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Lichfield

Weekly Salary: £420 - £450+

Contact: Temporary with the opportunity to go permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday (8:30am to 15:30pm)

Teaching Personnel are currently partnering with a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Lichfield, seeking multiple full-time teaching assistants to join their team from Monday to Friday (8:30 am to 3:30 pm). This specialist school caters to boys and girls aged 7 to 18 and has been rated 'Good' by OFSTED. The school provides support for students with a range of complex needs, including Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) issues, Autism, and other SEN-related challenges.

The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge in SEN. Students at this school engage in a variety of activities, such as community Makaton performances and enterprise projects, which enhance their communication and language skills while encouraging them to step outside their comfort zones in a secure and nurturing environment. As a teaching assistant, you will play a key role in supporting and engaging these students during their lessons. Experience working in a school environment and a passion for working with children is highly desirable.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery.
  • Organizing and preparing resources for lessons.
  • Acting as a positive role model, inspiring and encouraging children to make positive choices and demonstrate appropriate behaviours.
  • Using enthusiasm to engage children and foster active participation in lessons.

Requirements:

  • Minimum GCSE qualifications in Maths and English.
  • A driving license (desirable).
  • Previous experience working with children.
  • Experience working with Special Educational Needs.
  • An enhanced child DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
