Job Advertisement: Science Graduate Teaching Assistant

Location: Crawley
Salary: £419.25 - £500 per week
Position: Full-Time, Starting October
Duration: Until the End of the Academic Year (with potential for a permanent role based on performance)

Teaching Personnel is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Science Graduate to join a well-regarded secondary school in Crawley. This full-time role is set to begin in October and will extend until the end of the academic year, offering a potential pathway to a permanent position depending on your performance.

Role Overview: As a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Science department, working closely with teachers and students to enhance the learning experience. This role is ideal for a recent Science graduate who is passionate about education and is considering a future career in teaching.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Support: Assist Science teachers in delivering dynamic and engaging lessons, helping to bring scientific concepts to life for students across various age groups.
  • One-on-One and Group Tutoring: Provide targeted support to individual students or small groups, ensuring they understand the material and are able to achieve their full potential.
  • Resource Preparation: Aid in the preparation and organization of lesson materials, including setting up experiments and ensuring all resources are ready for classroom activities.
  • Student Progress: Monitor student progress and provide feedback, working with teachers to identify areas where additional support is needed.
  • Classroom Management: Help maintain a positive and productive classroom environment by managing student behavior and encouraging active participation.
  • Extracurricular Activities: Support science-related extracurricular activities, such as clubs or study sessions, to further enhance students' understanding and enthusiasm for the subject.
  • Assessment Assistance: Assist in the preparation, delivery, and marking of assessments, helping students to be well-prepared and confident in their exams.

Requirements:

  • A degree in a Science-related subject (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics).
  • A strong academic background with a passion for science and education.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous experience working with young people, ideally in an educational setting, is desirable but not essential.
