Part-Time Role Available: Support for a Child in KS1 with Autism

Are you passionate about making a difference in a child’s life? We’re looking for a patient, caring, and resilient individual to support a KS1 child with autism who may occasionally display challenging behaviours, including physical outbursts.

Role Details:

  • Position: Part-Time Support Assistant
  • Location: Childwall (L16)
  • Hours: 08.30am – 15.30pm
  • Salary: £12.90 - £13.50 / hour.

About the Role:

You will work one-to-one with a young child in Key Stage 1, helping them navigate their learning environment, build trust, and develop strategies to manage emotions and behaviour.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing a calm and supportive presence.
  • Assisting with learning tasks and classroom activities.
  • Using de-escalation techniques during challenging moments.
  • Collaborating with teachers, the SENCO, and other professionals to support the child’s development.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience (or a strong interest) in working with children with autism or additional needs.
  • Remains calm under pressure and can respond effectively to challenging situations.
  • Is empathetic, patient, and adaptable.
  • Understands the importance of consistency and routine.
  • Has knowledge of, or is willing to learn, techniques such as Positive Handling, de-escalation strategies, or PECS/Makaton.

Relevant training will be provided for the right candidate.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
