Pastoral Support Assistant

Location: Bootle, Liverpool
Salary: From £12.90 per hour
Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary 
Start Date: 24th February 2025

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people? We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic Pastoral Support Assistant to join a small Primary School in Bootle and help nurture the emotional and social well-being of trheir pupils.

About the Role

"As a Pastoral Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the well-being and development of children in our school. Working closely with teachers, families, and other support staff, you will provide a listening ear, guidance, and practical support to pupils who may face barriers to their learning and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer 1:1 and small group support to pupils facing emotional, social, or behavioural challenges.
  • Promote positive behaviour and support students in developing key coping strategies.
  • Act as a point of contact for pupils and parents, building strong and trusting relationships.
  • Collaborate with the safeguarding team to ensure the safety and welfare of all students.
  • Monitor attendance and engagement, addressing any concerns with appropriate interventions.
  • Work closely with teachers to identify and address students’ pastoral needs.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is compassionate, patient, and approachable.
  • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is able to remain calm under pressure and handle sensitive situations with discretion.
  • Has experience working with children, preferably in an educational or pastoral setting.
  • Holds a relevant qualification (desirable but not essential).
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
