SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School in Central Blackpool (FY4) 

Location: Central Blackpool
Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Salary: Competitive, based on experience

Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs? Do you have experience working with primary-aged pupils in an inclusive environment? Teaching Personnel has an exciting opportunity for you!

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in central Blackpool. This full-time position is ideal for someone who is dedicated to making a difference for children with additional needs and is looking to join a supportive school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work one-on-one and in small groups with children who have a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
  • Support the class teacher with implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and adapting learning activities to meet the needs of each child.
  • Assist with behaviour management and promote a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
  • Foster strong relationships with pupils, using encouragement and patience to help them achieve their full potential.
  • Liaise with the SENCO and external professionals to ensure cohesive support for each child.
  • Monitor and record children’s progress, sharing updates with teachers and parents.

About You:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, ideally within an SEN setting or working with children with additional needs is desirable but not essential. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a caring and patient approach.
  • A solid understanding of strategies to support children with SEN, including behaviour management techniques.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team but also independently when needed.
  • Flexibility and a proactive attitude towards supporting each child’s unique needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
