About the Role: Are you a compassionate and dedicated professional with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs? A welcoming primary school in Blackburn is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their Key Stage 2 (KS2) team starting this September. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young learners by providing tailored support and fostering a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with special educational needs in KS2.
  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering inclusive lessons that cater to the needs of SEN students.
  • Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapt learning materials to meet students' specific needs.
  • Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Support students' social and emotional development, promoting a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.
  • Assist with personal care needs, if required.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly in a primary school setting.
  • A relevant qualification in education or childcare (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, SEN Diploma).
  • Strong understanding of the challenges and strategies related to supporting SEN students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with SEN.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • First Aid and Safeguarding training (desirable).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
