Job description

Full-Time Specialist Teaching Assistant

Location: Blackburn

Start Date: September 2024

Contract Type: Full-Time, Temporary (Potential for Long-Term)

Working Hours: 8:45 am - 3:30 pm, Monday - Friday

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our team in the Blackburn area. This role is set to commence on September 16th 2024, with the potential for long-term employment for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

- Provide support to a pupil within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) who has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and is non-verbal.

- Assist in the implementation of individualized educational and behavioural plans.

- Engage the pupil in learning activities and promote social interaction.

- Provide personal care support as required.

- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

- Foster a supportive and nurturing relationship with the pupil to encourage their overall development.

Requirements:

- Previous experience in supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is essential.

- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of the pupil.

- Understanding of inclusive education practices.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Compassionate and patient approach towards working with children with special educational needs.

- Willingness to undertake personal care duties.

Qualifications:

- Minimum of a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.

- Additional training or qualifications related to special educational needs would be advantageous.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
