SEN Teacher
Job description
Teacher required for a pupil referral unit (PRU) based on a small school site in Christchurch, Dorset. They provide a education setting for pupils between the ages of 11- 16 who are unable to learn in mainstream settings or may need intervention to re-engage with mainstream education.
We are looking for a dedicated individual to provide tailored support to students. You will be committed to making a positive difference to young people’s lives and in supporting and developing their learning.
As a Teacher in this school, you will provide inclusion and intervention for students with social, emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties. This post will involve a flexible response to change and the ability to effectively manage changing and sometimes conflicting priorities.
The postholder will be working directly with young people who have significant challenges and the behaviour of the students is often demanding. You will need to deploy effective behaviour management skills in your interactions with students.
We are looking for a teacher who:
- Has QTS
- Has middle/upper school experience
- Is looking for full time work. This is an ongoing role starting in September 2024
- Is comfortable to differentiate lesson plans and schemes of learning that are already in place
- Raises the quality of teaching and learning and embeds a learning culture that enables students to become effective and enthusiastic learners
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of how to use and adapt a range of teaching, learning and behaviour management strategies
This role is not subject specific so you will need to be comfortable delivering a mixed curriculum.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
