SEN Support Assistant
Location: Provision Unit, Partner School, Tameside
Position: SEN Support Assistant
Start Date: September 2024
Salary: Competitive, based on experience and qualifications
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

The Role:

As an SEN Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) within the school's provision unit. You will work closely with teachers, SEN coordinators, and other support staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, ensuring that each student can achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Individualized Support: Assist students with SEN on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, adapting teaching methods and materials to meet their individual needs.
  • Classroom Assistance: Support the class teacher in managing classroom behavior and ensuring that students remain engaged and focused during lessons.
  • Personal Care: Provide personal care and assistance to students as required, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with teachers, parents, and external agencies to monitor and report on student progress.
  • Resource Preparation: Assist in the preparation of learning materials and resources tailored to the needs of SEN students.
  • Inclusive Environment: Promote a positive and inclusive atmosphere within the classroom and the wider school community.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children with SEN is highly desirable.
  • Qualifications: A relevant qualification in education or SEN support is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience and Empathy: A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Flexibility: The ability to adapt to varying needs and situations within the classroom.
  • DBS Check: An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
