Are you looking for a flexible role that allows you to work in specialist provisions outside of mainstream education? Teaching Personnel, the market leader in education recruitment, is seeking SEN Specialist Teachers to work across various provisions in the Leeds area.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people who face barriers to learning, while exploring diverse settings to find your ideal permanent role.

Our client schools include a variety of specialist provisions catering to pupils aged 5–16 who are unable to access mainstream education. These provisions support pupils with a range of needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties, complex medical conditions, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and physical or learning disabilities. Many pupils also have an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP). In addition to working in specialist settings, you will also have opportunities to work in primary and secondary schools, depending on your experience and preferences.

About the Role:
As an SEN Specialist Teacher, you will play a key role in creating a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment tailored to the needs of each pupil. You will have the opportunity to work flexibly across a number of specialist provisions, delivering personalised lessons and interventions that enable pupils to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons that are adapted to meet the diverse needs of pupils.
  • Implementing strategies to reduce barriers to learning and promote independence.
  • Supporting pupils with SEMH, ASD, and other additional needs to develop confidence, resilience, and life skills.
  • Collaborating with support staff, SENCOs, and external professionals to provide a holistic approach to education.
  • Using a range of behaviour management techniques to foster a calm and focused learning environment.
  • Monitoring and assessing pupil progress, ensuring personalised targets are achieved.
