SEMH Teaching Assistant
We are currently recruiting for a committed and empathetic SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic alternative provision in Blackburn, supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of students with challenging behaviours.
Role Details:
- Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant
- Location: Blackburn (Alternative Provision - KS3/KS4)
- Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:00am - 3:20pm; Friday, 8:00am - 2:30pm
- Pay Rate: £12.90 per hour
- Contract: Long-term temporary with the potential to become permanent
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and group support to students with SEMH and challenging behaviours.
- Assist with the delivery of tailored lessons to help students achieve both academic and personal goals.
- Support students in developing emotional regulation and positive social skills.
- Work closely with teachers and other professionals to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Encourage students to reach their full potential by offering consistent guidance and support.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience working with young people, particularly those with SEMH or behavioural challenges.
- A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach to working in challenging environments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in difficult situations.
- A team player with a genuine desire to make a positive impact in education.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
