Overview:
Are you an experienced and qualified secondary teacher looking for flexible work in Plymouth? We are seeking dynamic and adaptable supply teachers to work across various secondary schools in the Plymouth area. This role is perfect for teachers looking to maintain a work-life balance, gain experience in different schools, or step into a more flexible teaching environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Classroom Teaching: Deliver pre-prepared lessons or create engaging lessons for students across different secondary subjects, ensuring continuity of learning in the absence of regular teaching staff.
- Classroom Management: Maintain discipline and foster a positive, respectful learning environment in line with each school’s behaviour policies.
- Adaptability: Be flexible and prepared to teach across a range of subjects and year groups, from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4 (ages 11-16), depending on school needs.
- Student Engagement: Use varied teaching strategies to engage students of differing abilities and learning styles, ensuring all students can access the curriculum.
- Professionalism: Work collaboratively with school staff and leadership, following school policies and contributing to the overall school environment.
- Assessment and Feedback: Provide feedback on student progress to the relevant teachers or heads of department, ensuring learning objectives are met.
Person Specification:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Essential for all applicants. Specialism in any secondary subject is welcomed.
- Experience: Previous experience teaching in a secondary school environment is highly desirable, although NQTs/ECTs are encouraged to apply.
- Flexibility: Ability to adapt quickly to different school environments, year groups, and subjects as required.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Clear communication with students, staff, and parents is essential to ensure smooth integration into various schools.
- Classroom Management Skills: Confidence in managing classrooms effectively, promoting a positive learning environment for all students.
- Enhanced DBS Check: All applicants must have or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS check.
