About the Role

Teaching Personnel is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Science Teacher to join a highly regarded secondary school in Stockport, Manchester. This full-time role will commence after Easter and will cover a long-term absence. The school is known for its commitment to academic excellence, inclusive ethos, and strong Science department.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and well-structured Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching at Key Stage 5 depending on experience. The role will involve fostering a passion for Science while ensuring students develop a strong understanding of key scientific principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality Science lessons in line with the national curriculum.

  • Teach across all three disciplines of Science (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics) at Key Stages 3 and 4.

  • Adapt teaching strategies to suit a range of learning abilities and ensure inclusivity in lessons.

  • Encourage curiosity and critical thinking by incorporating practical experiments and interactive learning techniques.

  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing constructive feedback and support.

  • Prepare students for assessments and external examinations, ensuring they meet their full potential.

  • Maintain a positive and safe classroom environment that promotes student engagement.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Science department to share best practices and enhance the curriculum.

  • Contribute to extra-curricular Science activities, such as clubs, workshops, and educational trips.

  • Maintain strong communication with students, parents, and carers regarding progress and academic development.

  • Uphold the school’s values and commitment to providing a high-quality education.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.

  • Experience teaching Science at Key Stages 3 and 4 (experience with Key Stage 5 is desirable but not essential).

  • Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

  • A passion for Science and the ability to inspire students to develop a love for the subject.

  • Excellent classroom management skills with the ability to engage and motivate students.

  • Strong communication and organisational skills.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
