About the Role

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Teacher to join a well-regarded secondary school in Stockport, Manchester. This is a full-time position starting after Easter to cover a long-term absence. The school has a strong reputation for academic excellence, inclusivity, and fostering a passion for learning.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and challenging Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, inspiring students to develop their understanding of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. You will play a key role in supporting students to achieve their full potential and preparing them for GCSE examinations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality Science lessons aligned with the national curriculum.

  • Teach Science to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, covering Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

  • Prepare students for GCSE examinations, ensuring a strong understanding of scientific concepts and practical applications.

  • Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to engage students of all abilities, including those with additional learning needs.

  • Monitor student progress through assessments and provide constructive feedback to support their development.

  • Create a dynamic and stimulating learning environment that encourages curiosity and scientific inquiry.

  • Support students with practical experiments and ensure they develop key investigative and analytical skills.

  • Maintain a positive and structured classroom environment with effective behaviour management strategies.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Science department to develop engaging lesson plans and share best practices.

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student progress and strategies for improvement.

  • Stay up to date with developments in Science education to enhance lesson content and teaching strategies.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.

  • Experience teaching Science at Key Stages 3 and 4.

  • Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

  • Ability to deliver engaging lessons that develop students' scientific knowledge and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to motivate students.

  • Strong communication and organisational skills.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
