About the Role
Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Teacher to join a well-regarded secondary school in Stockport, Manchester. This is a full-time position starting after Easter to cover a long-term absence. The school has a strong reputation for academic excellence, inclusivity, and fostering a passion for learning.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and challenging Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, inspiring students to develop their understanding of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. You will play a key role in supporting students to achieve their full potential and preparing them for GCSE examinations.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver high-quality Science lessons aligned with the national curriculum.

Teach Science to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, covering Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

Prepare students for GCSE examinations, ensuring a strong understanding of scientific concepts and practical applications.

Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to engage students of all abilities, including those with additional learning needs.

Monitor student progress through assessments and provide constructive feedback to support their development.

Create a dynamic and stimulating learning environment that encourages curiosity and scientific inquiry.

Support students with practical experiments and ensure they develop key investigative and analytical skills.

Maintain a positive and structured classroom environment with effective behaviour management strategies.

Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Science department to develop engaging lesson plans and share best practices.

Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student progress and strategies for improvement.

Stay up to date with developments in Science education to enhance lesson content and teaching strategies.
Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.

Experience teaching Science at Key Stages 3 and 4.

Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

Ability to deliver engaging lessons that develop students' scientific knowledge and problem-solving skills.

Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to motivate students.

Strong communication and organisational skills.
