Science Teacher – Permanent Role in Southampton (SO15)

An ambitious and forward-thinking secondary school in Southampton is seeking a dedicated Science Teacher to join their team on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator who is committed to delivering engaging and practical Science lessons, fostering curiosity, and inspiring the next generation of scientists.

The successful candidate will teach Science across Key Stages 3 and 4, with a specialism in either Biology, Chemistry, or Physics being welcomed. The school has well-equipped laboratories and a strong emphasis on hands-on experiments, encouraging students to develop their investigative and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality Science lessons tailored to a range of learning abilities
  • Teach across Key Stages 3 and 4, adapting content to suit different levels of understanding
  • Encourage students to develop scientific thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Utilise a range of teaching methods, including practical experiments and demonstrations
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and intervention where necessary
  • Work collaboratively with the Science department to refine and enhance schemes of work
  • Contribute to extracurricular Science initiatives, such as STEM clubs, competitions, and field trips

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching Science at KS3 and KS4 (specialism in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics preferred)
  • Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for the Sciences
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage students of all abilities
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective teaching practice
  • Ability to contribute to whole-school STEM initiatives and enrichment activities

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
