Second in Science – Inspire and Lead in Southampton

Are you an enthusiastic and skilled Science teacher ready to take the next step into leadership? We are seeking a talented Second in Science to join a vibrant and dedicated science department at a secondary school in Southampton. This is a unique opportunity to shape the scientific journey of students while supporting the Head of Science in driving the department to new heights of excellence.

The Role:

  • Leadership: Collaborate with the Head of Science in curriculum planning, development of teaching practices, and setting a high standard of excellence across the department.
  • Teaching: Deliver engaging, innovative, and challenging Science lessons across KS3 and KS4, fostering a love for science and encouraging curiosity.
  • Support and Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, sharing best practices and supporting professional development within the department.
  • Data-Driven Progress: Use data and assessments to monitor student progress and create targeted intervention plans to support all students in reaching their potential.
  • School Initiatives: Participate in whole-school initiatives and activities, championing science and supporting the school’s vision of academic success and personal growth for every student.

About You:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a background in Science teaching.
  • Proven experience with successful student outcomes in KS3 and KS4 Science.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire colleagues and students alike.
  • A collaborative and adaptable approach to teaching, ensuring the department’s goals align with the school’s vision for success.
  • Passionate about fostering an inclusive learning environment where every student can succeed.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
